Editorial Standards and AI Methodology
These editorial standards explain how we source facts, quote people, use AI tools and correct mistakes, so you can judge everything we publish.
Sources
Every number names its source and date. License and code facts come from the licensing board or code agency itself. When an official page and its guidance documents disagree, we report the rule and say so.
Quotes
We quote electricians and contractors by real name, license level and state, and we ask before we quote anyone. We do not invent people, quotes or credentials.
The National Electrical Code
The NEC is published by NFPA. We summarize adoption news and changes; we never reproduce code text.
AI methodology
We use software, including AI tools, to gather public data, draft summaries and cross check facts. An editor reviews every published fact against its source before it goes live. AI tools never invent quotes, numbers or sources for this site, and we do not publish AI generated images of real people.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it in the article and note the date of the correction. Tell us about an error.
Independence
Sponsors and advertisers never pay for coverage and never see stories before they publish. Read our sponsored content policy
