About Electrical Contractors and Wiring

Electrical Contractors and Wiring is an independent weekly publication for the people who run electrical work: shop owners, estimators, electricians and apprentices across the United States.

Why we started

Code adoptions, license rules and wage data are public, but they are scattered across fifty licensing boards, a dozen code agencies and several federal tables. Most trade news is written for manufacturers and distributors. We wanted one place, and one short weekly newsletter, that starts where the work happens.

Who writes it

Articles are written and checked by the Electrical Contractors and Wiring Editorial Team. When we quote an electrician, we use their real name, license level and state, and we ask before we quote anyone. If you hold a license and want to weigh in, we would like to hear from you.

How we work

  • Every number names its source and date: BLS, Census, EIA or the state agency itself.
  • License and code facts come from the board or agency, not from third party summaries.
  • We use software, including AI tools, to gather and cross check public data. An editor checks every published fact against its source.
  • We summarize the National Electrical Code; we never reproduce its text.
  • Corrections are made in the article with the date of the change.

How we pay for it

The Electrical and Wiring Newsletter is free. It carries one labeled sponsored slot per issue, and directory pages will carry featured listings labeled Sponsored. Sponsors never pay for coverage and never see stories before they publish.

What we are not

We are not an electrical contractor. We do not perform, inspect or warrant electrical work, and nothing on this site replaces a licensed electrician or your local inspector.
